The first felt wall tapestries that she made in New York, were employed as stage settings for her performances. As the urge to perform moved towards the background the banners took centre stage. Liesbeth Abbenes has focused the last four years on making these increasingly elaborate banners in which she develops her own handwriting and technique while looking at the history of wall tapestries. The situations on the textile show the disappearance of the alter ego: Dolly is stripped to the last thread.
